Any suggestions Thanks Nick I have an 810 which I use for Mountain Biking in Scotland. Saved me a bunch of money and after a few months of owning the edge 810 Ive finally got the time to install maps. I inserted the chip into the garmin 810 and activated the unit, further I enabled the map. The computer recognizes the card and when I click on the card the maps are in a folder named Garmin. Shame about the people that think this is complicated! If is shows enabled, ensure that you zoom-in as you may be too far to see the map.
That is, they look good on the device. So I am beginning to wonder if maybe the Edge 800 will only recognize 2 img files besides the base map? They agree that it sounds like a strange problem but wanted me to try a factory reset and see if that solves it. I also have the Garmin North America map that I paid for. The closest one to the Burke Gilman trail is from the routable cycling, the other one is from the generic routing really bad! Zoom back in and you should be able to see the detail on the zoomed in screen. That is, when you use the Garmin like a car nav unit to compute a route to a destination. I have defo enabled the map in the profiles, and can clearly see it there.
Thanks Sorry as I am newbie but original china map was outdated as at 2009 and I need a update map Hi again David. More specifically, will the Round Trip Routing and on unit Route Planner be compatible and function the same? You will see a closer resemblance of routing between Garmin Connect, and the Edge 800. Is there a place I can make a suggestion to allow mapping the entire country? The file shows up as being on the card when it is plugged in to my Mac but it does not appear on the Garmin 810 when I unplug from the computer and boot the Garmin. I make my living on the interwebs and do a lot of how to videos and articles for my own branded product…I know and appreciate how much time it takes to create the content you put up on your blog. You will need to download install each state individually into Garmin basecamp and then generate a file to upload to your gps. Garmin calls them both Openfietsmap and seems to load them both. Go into your settings for maps and poke around. Sometimes I just dont get people………. I was able to follow your instructions and have come up with a set of maps that I intend to use over the next few weeks singapore and philippines. Thanks in advance to all.

I sent an email to the Garmin and they said that you can not load maps containing mtb trails and dirt roads. I followed them to ensure the map was enabled. Also, it has no information on the newer Centennial Trial. I have made a fresh request for a new map and followed your path not trying to unzip and it worked perfectly. Their maps are updated weekly. After forking out a fortune i realised it has none and I am currently t-2 days away from a bike ride from London to Berlin, where we were expecting to load the routes on to the Garmin.
