Today I was reversing to park the car, and when i turned the wheel all the way to the right, it just revved loud and hard and then the oil light, check engine, and battery lights came on. I have no clue how much more hours it will take for labor to put the new transmission in. I need in this lawsuit. Only heard it a few times and have not had it in the shop yet. My vehicle just turned over 70,000 miles.
Contributing posters are people who regularly post worthwhile advice. I have a 2006 Ford Freestyle. It didn't do it again until last night and since then, it has lurched and stalled 3 different times while driving. They knew there was a problem. My transmission quit with no warning on a main street in our town. We have now towed it a 3rd time home. I'll let you know how it goes.
I am having the same problems. We allow links, pictures, video, or audio file to help diagnose your problem. It just starts slowing down and will come to a complete stop. The cvt may have flaws in design, but if you take a transmission like the cvt and couple it to a small engine, and then acheive the power from running high revs, your engine is subject to catastrophic failure. When turning on the ignition, the truck would rev up to high rpm's without having my foot on the gas pedal. Thanks I own a 2007 freestyle limited and was told be local transmission place the cost might be 3300.
Thanks for the information, I appreciate it. Thanks for your support in this matter. The one redeeming feature that I know of is that the Taurus X's all had the side impact airbags whereas not all and not mine Freestyles did. It ran great up until a couple of weeks ago when it stalled as I was pulling out into traffic. I am a mechanic worked for ford for a couple of years when they sold me this piece of crap. An article in Gears about the transmission. This makes the 351M a poor choice for your engine build.
Not very hard, mind you, but way more than any aftermarket tuner would be capable of doing based on what I've seen they are capable of. And realizing they can't be re-built. Also, I read that Ford Motor sent out a letter in December of 2012 regarding replacing a part on the throttle but I did not receive that letter. Which is basically what is happening to mine. It was brought to the dealer and they changed a wire harness saying that was the problem.
My car is a 2005 with 60,000 miles on it and my warrenty runs out in 2 weeks!! I was then driving it later on myself and parked it then went out to start it and there was no power whatsoever. Then in December I get the recall notice as I am about to take my car in again because the engine light turn on. It must be consistent flooding of this line. My 2005 Ford Freestyle is doing the same thing as everyone elses. . They said that I needed a new transmission.
I noticed the 2005 Freestyles were the worst for transmission failure. My truck started making a loud noise in March 2013 and we figured out ourselves that it was a wheelbearing in the front. Disgusting ethics Ford, just sick. All the horror stories has me worried. As of this writing, its been 2 weeks…so far! I was also told that I needed a new Throttle Body back in 2012 so I took it in to Ford in December 2012 and they cleaned the Throttle Body but I'm still experiencing the same problem. Now I'm concerned for my family's safety. I took it for a test drive, it was as smooth as could be.
They would not provide any compensation since the car has surpassed the 36,000 mile warranty. The extended warranty company says I need to pay 600. So I said don't do anything they said I'd have to pay651. I have a 2007 ford freestyle after having the recall fixed a week later care acting up. The car jerks forward by itself like it has a mind of its own.
